Six people have been confirmed dead after a huge fire raged through the night at a high rise apartment building in west London.
According to police reports the death toll is expected to rise as several people are unaccounted for.
London’s Mayor Sadie Khan told reporters that firefighters have rescued large numbers of people, however, the 24-story block, which is still on fire could collapse.
It is understood that “several hundred” people were in the building when the fire broke out shortly after midnight, most of them sleeping.
So far, more than 70 people have received treatment in hospital. At least 20 are known to be in a critical condition.
Early this morning, Prime Minister Theresa May said she is “deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life”.
